FAQs

Putting it simply, we don’t believe being herded on and off large buses with strict timings gives our visitors the opportunity to experience the best of Scotland. We believe there is a better alternative…

When you book with us, you are not just booking transportation. You are booking an incredibly experienced and knowledgeable guide with at least 10 years of guiding experience and an unwavering commitment to punctuality, safety and a passion for Scotland, all from the comfort of a luxury Mercedes MPV.

Find your tour, book and pay securely on our website. For a custom tour we will always send a secure payment link and we accept all major credit and debit cards.

We accept reservations 12 months from departure, right up to the day before departure on most of our tours. However, they do sell out fast, so it’s best to book in advance.

We keep our group sizes small, with a maximum of up to 7 people per vehicle. This means you can have greater flexibility, bond with your friends or family, and enjoy more personal attention from our local guides.

No, however in our experience younger guests typically don’t enjoy the level of travel involved (nor the twisty and windy roads), particularly babies and toddlers. We provide booster seats for younger travellers but we do not provide baby and/or toddler seats and these will need to be provided. Please contact us for more details.

We only use Mercedes-Benz V Class MPVs. Each is fully air-conditioned, with leather seats, charging points and 4G wi-fi on board.

Our vehicles are maintained by official Mercedes-Benz service centres and are cleaned and sanitised daily to ensure we maintain the highest reliability and safety standards.

All our vehicles are fitted with 4G WiFi – however, please bear in mind we will be visiting remote areas in Scotland, so it’s likely there’ll be disruption to the Wi-Fi signal from time to time.

Our vehicles are all equipped with USB & USB-C ports – we ask that you bring your own charging cables.

Our guides will provide you with a choice of eateries en route – and will happily make recommendations. Of course, you are also welcome to bring something with you either as a snack or if you have a specific dietary requirement that can’t be met by a local provider.

Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for details on our luggage policy, for day tours we’d recommend no more than a small hold-all or rucksack per guest. For longer trips we’d recommend no more than a cabin bag – we can provide details of luggage storage facilities if required.

We operate tours all year round, however, there are fewer choices and departures throughout the winter due to poor weather conditions over this period.

All of our tours are conducted in clear, spoken English.

So we can ensure you’re comfortable travelling with us, please let us know about any special requirements or needs at the time of booking.

It’s essential that you give us prior notice if you’re bringing a wheelchair (14kg/ 31lb max), a mobility aid, or need an accessible room.

Our tours also include short walks on uneven surfaces, and there may be visits to historical sites with access restrictions. Please bear this in mind when booking.

We know everyone is different and all groups want to plan their trip differently. Some want to visit attractions whilst others in the same group are happy to simply take in the scenery. Once you’ve booked your tour, we will follow up with a list of attractions available on your route. We can also book these attractions for you.

If you would like us to book tickets on you behalf we ask for payment in order to secure tickets. We don’t charge any admin fees – we simply pass on the ticket cost to you.

Please note, cancelling a 3rd party excursion may not result in a refund as we have to abide by the booking conditions set by the 3rd party provider at the time of booking.

You can view our cancellation policy HERE, we do like to be flexible if we can so please contact us and one of our friendly team members will help. If there’s an alternative date that would suit you better, we are happy to accommodate this if available, otherwise, our standard cancellation policy applies.

We do not include the cost of accommodation in our prices to avoid adding unnecessary fees to the cost of your stay. We have a number of accommodation recommendations, and we can usually make reservations on your behalf. All you need to do is settle the agreed price directly with the hotel upon check-out.

At Hopscotch Travel, we strive to ensure our guests have the best experience possible and we ask you to leave feedback on TripAdvisor. In the unlikely event that you have had a bad experience please do not hesitate to contact us in order to try and put things right.

We advise you and your group have the correct level of travel insurance valid throughout the length of your tour.

Most businesses will accept card payments however some rural businesses in the smaller towns and villages may only take cash – or not accept your card type. So, we advise you to have cash on hand to avoid any disappointment or inconvenience.

Please ensure you check the local weather forecast to ensure you are comfortable throughout your tour.

Appropriate footwear, such as walking shoes, is advised. The weather in Scotland can be unpredictable. Even in the height of summer, we often experience some rain. Always be ready and bring a waterproof jacket.
