Brodie Castle is owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland. The Brodie family, one of Scotland's oldest clans, lived here for more than 400 years, with ties to this land going back at least to the 12th century.
Clan Brodie built the original Z-plan castle in 1567. Lewis Gordon burned it in 1645, and it was later rebuilt and greatly extended in the Scots Baronial style between 1824 and 1845.
Brodie Castle is known for its art collection, which includes Dutch Old Masters and 18th-century lacquer furniture, along with its fine plasterwork ceilings and a famous spring display of over 100 daffodil varieties in the grounds.
Dogs on leads are welcome in the grounds and walled garden. With its woodland walks and the Playful Garden, it's a good stop for dog owners, though dogs can't go inside the castle itself.
