Overview

What you will see on this tour.

Some places you have to feel to understand. The Scottish Highlands are exactly that. On this two-day private journey, you'll have no crowds and no rigid timetable, it's just you and your group, a local experienced personal guide and a premium Mercedes to carry you deep into one of the most spellbinding landscapes in Scotland.

You'll stand among the ancient standing stones of Clava Cairns, opt for a cruise on the waters of Loch Ness for a glimpse of its legendary resident, and wind through mountain passes and tucked-away villages that rarely make the guidebooks. Along the way, your guide shares the stories, history and local secrets that bring the Highlands to life.

Pickup Info
Your private driver-guide collects you from your Edinburgh city centre hotel on Day 1. On subsequent days, pick-up is from your overnight accommodation. Door-to-door service throughout — no meeting points.

Itinerary

Day 1
Highland Exploration
Loch Lomond → Glencoe → Fort Augustus → Loch Ness → Inverness

Day 1:
Your private guide meets you in Glasgow and the journey north begins. Your journey continues through Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park with a stop at the picturesque village of Luss.

From here your guide takes you on through Rannoch Moore and on to Glencoe, the most dramatic glen in the country and the site of the infamous massacre of 1692. There's no rush. Stay in the comfort of your luxury Mercedes and watch it all roll by, or get out and stretch your legs.

Beyond Glencoe the route joins the Great Glen, the enormous fault line that splits the Highlands in two. You'll stop at Fort Augustus, where the Caledonian Canal drops through a staircase of locks into the southern end of Loch Ness, a piece of Thomas Telford engineering that's still a pleasure to watch in action. A little further up the loch stands Urquhart Castle, one of Scotland's largest and most photographed castles, looking out over the dark water where Nessie is said to lurk. Keep your camera close.

By late afternoon you'll reach Inverness, the Capital of the Highlands. The evening is yours. Wander the streets along the River Ness, find a quiet pub, or settle in for dinner at one of the city's many restaurants. Inverness has something for everyone.

  • Personal pick-up from your Hotel

Day 2
Historic Sites and Scenic Beauty

Day 2:
On the second day, you’ll begin at Culloden Battlefield – where the Jacobites famously fought against the British Monarchy.

Next, you’ll discover the mysteries of Clava Cairns, an ancient burial site and the stories that go alongside this remarkable site. Opt for a visit at the renowned Blair Atholl Distillery where you can stop for a tipple at their bar.

From here, you’ll be taken to the picturesque town of Dunkeld on the banks of the River Tay, with its historic sites you’ll have time to explore The Hermitage, this stretch of magical Perthshire forest was originally designed as a pleasure ground in the 18th century for the Dukes of Atholl.

Sit back and relax, enjoying the scenery, as you make your way back to Glasgow and a drop-off to your preferred hotel.

What our Guests say

FAQs

Will we cruise on Loch Ness and look for Nessie?

You can add a Loch Ness cruise as an optional extra on the day. Seeing Urquhart Castle from the water is a wonderful experience, all while keeping a lookout for Scotland's most famous resident.

Is this a private tour just for our group?

This one is entirely private, just you and your party with your own driver-guide and luxury Mercedes, and it's never shared with other travellers.

Can we adjust the itinerary to what we’d like to see?

Naturally. Being a private escape, you decide the stops and the pace, and your guide is glad to slot in a castle, a viewpoint or a relaxed lunch to suit your group.

How does pick-up work over the two days?

On the first morning we collect you door-to-door from your hotel, and on day two from your Highland accommodation, so you'll never have a meeting point to track down.

Is two days enough to enjoy the Highlands?

Across two days you get a beautifully paced taster of the Highlands' greatest hits, from Loch Ness and dramatic glens to Inverness. It's built for anyone short on time yet keen to experience Scotland's wild heart.
