Overview

What you will see on this tour.

The definitive week in Scotland, taking in every iconic landscape the country is famous for. On this private, fully flexible 7-day tour, your own personal guide leads you from the brooding majesty of Glencoe and the colourful harbour of Portree to the legend-shrouded waters of Loch Ness and the haunting moor of Culloden.

You’ll spend two unhurried nights on the Isle of Skye, cross to Eilean Donan Castle, raise a dram in Speyside whisky country and finish beneath the ramparts of Stirling Castle. From Highland glens to island shores, this is Scotland at its very grandest — and every mile is yours to shape.

Pickup Info
Your private driver-guide collects you from your Edinburgh city centre hotel on Day 1. On subsequent days, pick-up is from your overnight accommodation. Door-to-door service throughout — no meeting points.

Itinerary

Day 1
Your Grand Tour Begins — Glencoe to the Isle of Skye
Glasgow → Loch Lomond & The Trossachs → Glencoe → Fort William → Glenfinnan Viaduct → Eilean Donan Castle → Isle of Skye → Portree

Days 1–2: Your Grand Tour begins with a personal pick-up from your Glasgow hotel and a scenic drive north into Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park — the bonnie banks within easy reach of the city. The road follows the western shore of Loch Lomond and climbs through the wild expanse of Rannoch Moor before delivering you into Glencoe — the most dramatic and storied valley in the Highlands, its brooding peaks instantly familiar from the silver screen. After a relaxed lunch, you’ll continue to Fort William, outdoor capital of the Highlands and home to Ben Nevis, where you’ll spend the night. The following morning takes you onto the legendary Road to the Isles and the Glenfinnan Viaduct, the soaring curve made famous by the Hogwarts Express. From here you’ll journey to Eilean Donan, perhaps the most photographed castle in all of Scotland, set where three sea lochs meet. Pausing for lunch along the way, you’ll cross the bridge onto the Isle of Skye and arrive in its colourful island capital, Portree.

Day 2
The Wonders of Skye & Loch Ness

Days 3–4: A full, unhurried day awaits to explore the Isle of Skye, where Scotland’s myths and legends feel close enough to touch. Your guide leads you north into the Trotternish peninsula to the Old Man of Storr, the great pinnacle of rock that presides over the island, and on to the dramatic sea cliffs of Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls. You’ll take in the otherworldly landslip of the Quiraing — one of the most photographed views in Scotland — before a relaxed lunch and time to wander the harbour at Portree. There’s the chance to seek out the shimmering Fairy Pools beneath the Cuillin mountains, too. The next day, you’ll bid farewell to the island and travel to the shores of Loch Ness, Scotland’s most famous loch, where the ruins of Urquhart Castle stand watch over the water and an optional cruise offers the chance to look for its legendary resident. After lunch by the loch, it’s on to Inverness, the elegant capital of the Highlands.

Night 3: Portree, Isle of Skye · Night 4: Inverness — 4-Star Premium Accommodation
Day 3
Culloden, Whisky Country & the Cairngorms

Days 5–6: Leaving Inverness, you’ll visit the haunting moor of Culloden, where the 1745 Jacobite rising met its tragic end in the last battle fought on British soil. Nearby stand the Clava Cairns, a circle of Bronze Age burial tombs and standing stones some 4,000 years old. The day continues into Speyside, heartland of Scotch whisky, where a visit to a celebrated distillery reveals how the region’s famous single malts are crafted from grain to glass — with a relaxed lunch along the way. You’ll then enter the Cairngorms National Park, Britain’s largest, a vast wilderness of ancient pine forest, mountain and moor. The following day winds south through the heart of the Cairngorms, pausing at the celebrated Queen’s View over Loch Tummel — said to be a favourite of Queen Victoria — before arriving in the charming Victorian spa town of Pitlochry, where lunch and a gentle wander round out the day.

  • Walk the haunting battlefield of Culloden Moor
  • Discover the 4,000-year-old Clava Cairns
  • Visit a celebrated Speyside whisky distillery

Dunkeld, Stirling Castle & Glasgow

Day 7: On your final morning, you’ll travel to the cathedral village of Dunkeld and the towering Douglas firs of The Hermitage, where woodland paths lead to a romantic folly above the tumbling Black Linn Falls. The journey south brings a fitting grand finale at Stirling Castle — one of the largest and most important fortresses in Scotland, perched dramatically on its volcanic crag and steeped in the stories of Mary, Queen of Scots and Robert the Bruce. After a final lunch, you’ll journey back to Glasgow, your Grand Tour of Scotland complete and a week of unforgettable memories made.
