Itinerary

Day 1
Lallybroch, Fort William & Cranesmuir
Midhope Castle (Lallybroch) → Abercorn Church → Blackness Castle (Fort William) → Doune Castle (Castle Leoch) → Culross (Cranesmuir)

Day 1:
Your private guide collects you from your hotel and heads straight into Outlander country.

Midhope Castle — Lallybroch
The first stop needs no introduction for any Outlander fan. Midhope Castle in West Lothian is Lallybroch — the Fraser family seat — its distinctive tower house exterior one of the most recognisable images in the entire series. Your guide brings both the fictional story and the castle's real 16th-century history to life as you explore the grounds and have your picture taken on the very steps where the Fraser family stood.

Abercorn Church
A short drive brings you to Abercorn Church — Frank Randall's final resting place in the series. A beautiful and moving location steeped in real history, connecting the Outlander story to the genuine history of this ancient parish church on the shores of the Firth of Forth.

Blackness Castle — Fort William
One of Scotland's most dramatically situated fortresses, Blackness Castle juts into the Firth of Forth on a narrow promontory like a stone ship anchored to the shore. In Outlander it served as the feared Fort William — the garrison of the Black Watch and the scene of some of the series' most powerful moments.

Lunch — your guide will suggest options on the day to suit your preferences.

Doune Castle — Castle Leoch
Head north to Doune Castle — Castle Leoch, seat of Clan MacKenzie and Jamie Fraser's first refuge after his outlawing. One of the finest medieval castles in Scotland, your guide covers both its Outlander significance and its remarkable real 14th-century history.

Culross — Cranesmuir
The day concludes in the perfectly preserved 16th-century Royal Burgh of Culross on the north shore of the Firth of Forth — the fictional village of Cranesmuir, home of Geillis Duncan. The ochre-painted Culross Palace, the herb garden, and the cobbled streets are immediately recognisable from the series.

Overnight in the central belt — 4-Star Accommodation.

Day 2
Ardsmuir, Sandringham, Wentworth & Glencoe

Day 2:
Begin at Craigmillar Castle — Ardsmuir Prison in Outlander, where Jamie Fraser is held following Culloden. The castle's atmospheric ruins and commanding position above the city make it a powerful location in both fiction and reality.

Hopetoun House — The Duke of Sandringham's Estate
One of Scotland's grandest stately homes — Hopetoun House served as the Duke of Sandringham's estate in Outlander, location of the French bedroom scenes and the MacDonald duel. Your guide brings the Outlander connections and the real history of this magnificent 18th-century palace to life.

Linlithgow Palace — Wentworth Prison
The birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots and one of the grandest Scottish royal palaces, Linlithgow served as the feared Wentworth Prison in Outlander — the scene of some of the series' most dramatically charged episodes. Your guide navigates the extraordinary real history of this place alongside its Outlander significance.

The afternoon heads north into the Highlands through the legendary valley of Glencoe — one of the most powerful landscapes in Scotland, deeply embedded in the Jacobite history that forms the backbone of Outlander's story.

Overnight in Fort William or Glencoe — 4-Star Accommodation.

Day 3
Urquhart Castle, Culloden & Clava Cairns

Day 3:
Urquhart Castle
Begin at Urquhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness — one of Scotland's most dramatic historic sites, with over 1,000 years of turbulent history and extraordinary views across the dark waters of the loch.

Culloden Battlefield
The emotional centrepiece of Day 3. Culloden is where the Jacobite Rising ended in under an hour on 16 April 1746 — the last pitched battle on British soil, and the event that shaped everything that comes after in Outlander's story. Walking the battlefield with a guide who understands both the history and the show is a profoundly moving experience.

Clava Cairns
The day concludes at Clava Cairns — the ancient Bronze Age burial site that directly inspired the standing stone circles through which Claire first travels in Outlander. Four thousand years old, set in a woodland clearing near Culloden, the atmosphere here is unlike anywhere else in Scotland.

Your guide returns you to your hotel.
