Privately Guided Multi Day Tour
4-Day Private North Coast 500 Tour
Overview
Scotland’s ultimate road trip, in the comfort of your own private vehicle. The North Coast 500 is a 516-mile loop around the wild northern Highlands — and on this fully flexible 4-day tour, your personal guide takes the wheel so you can simply soak it all in.
Wind along single-track coast roads to empty white beaches and towering sea cliffs, past mountains that rise straight from the sea, fairytale castles and the legendary waters of Loch Ness. From the drama of Torridon and Assynt to the far-flung tip of the mainland at John o’Groats, this is the Highlands at their most elemental — every breathtaking mile, none of the driving.
Itinerary
Day 1: Your North Coast 500 adventure begins with a personal pick-up from your Edinburgh hotel and a scenic drive north across the Forth and into the Cairngorms National Park, Britain’s largest. You’ll reach the legendary shores of Loch Ness, where the ruins of Urquhart Castle stand watch over the water and an optional cruise offers the chance to look for its elusive resident, before a relaxed lunch in the Highland capital of Inverness — the official start and finish of the NC500. From here the road turns west into Wester Ross, growing wilder with every mile, until the mighty peaks of Torridon rise ahead — among the oldest and most majestic mountains in Britain. You’ll settle in beneath them for the night.

After a relaxed lunch by the harbour, the road carries you into the lunar landscapes of Assynt, where isolated peaks like Stac Pollaidh and Suilven rise dramatically from the moor and the romantic ruins of Ardvreck Castle sit on the shore of Loch Assynt.
