Edinburgh Gin Distillery
Born in 2010, Edinburgh Gin is distilled in the heart of Scotland’s capital city. It takes inspiration from the wonder-filled city that is its namesake – a captivating city of contrasts and harmony that blends historic tradition with contemporary creativity, city pride with world citizenship, nature and the urban environment. The disitllery began with their Classic, a world class London Dry, which became the foundation for a series of expressions that led the flavoured gin revolution, pushing boundaries and breaking down conventions.

New Town was built to relieve the overcrowding of the medieval Old Town, which had become dangerously insanitary by the 18th century. A design competition held in 1766 was won by the young architect James Craig, and construction began in 1767.
The first phase of Edinburgh New Town was begun in 1767, making it over 250 years old. It was built in stages over several decades, with the most celebrated Georgian streets and squares completed by the early 19th century.
Edinburgh Old Town is the medieval city built along the Royal Mile, characterised by cramped closes, tenements, and centuries of layered history. New Town, built from 1767 onwards, is a planned Georgian grid of broad avenues, elegant townhouses, and formal gardens — now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Non-drinkers get plenty out of it. The tour focuses on the history, craft and botanicals behind gin-making, with non-alcoholic alternatives offered during the tasting. The Arches venue is a striking piece of Victorian architecture in its own right.
