George Square

George Square is in the heart of Glasgow city centre and is a must- see. It is the city’s main civic plaza and is surrounded by impressive buildings and dotted with statues of well-known Scots - from monarchy and literary icons to politicians and royalty heroes. The Glasgow City Chambers, is the squares most striking building and is a magnificent Victorian masterpiece. If you are visiting on a weekday, you may enter and see the three storey marble staircase - one we think rivals the famous two storey version in the Vatican! The square is also a favourite filming location for major Hollywood productions such as the Fast & Furious and World War Z due to its classic architecture. George Square is just one of six main squares in Glasgow’s centre, others include Cathedral Square, St Andrew's Square, St Enoch Square, Royal Exchange Square, and Blythswood Square on Blythswood Hill.
