People’s Palace and Doulton Fountain
The People’s Palace is located in Glasgow Green’s historic district and it tells the story of Glasgow and its people from 1750 till today, through interactive exhibits, paintings, photographs, videos and interesting relics. Outside, the grand Doulton Fountain stands proudly, topped with a statue of Queen Victoria. It was once the latest terracotta fountain in the world and is the ideal photo spot with the People’s Palace and Glasgow Green as a backdrop. Please note: The People’s Palace and Winter Gardens are currently closed for refurbishment, with plans to reopen in 2027.

It's Glasgow's social history museum, telling the story of the city and its people from 1750 to today, covering trade unions, political movements, tenement life and popular culture. Entry is free.
It opened in 1898 as a cultural centre for Glasgow's East End, combining a museum, winter garden and public space in an area with little access to either. It's still free to enter and remains one of the city's best-loved museums.
The Doulton Fountain on Glasgow Green is the largest terracotta fountain in the world. Royal Doulton made it for the 1888 International Exhibition before it was gifted to the city, and it depicts allegorical figures of the British Empire. It was restored to working order in 2005.
Glasgow has plenty, including Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, the People's Palace, the Hunterian Museum, the Riverside Museum, the Gallery of Modern Art and the St Mungo Museum of Religious Life and Art.
