Set on the banks of the River Teith near Doune, Deanston began life as a cotton mill in 1785, thanks to the vision of Richard Arkwright. When the mill was transformed into a distillery in 1965, it brought together the spirit of Highland craftsmanship with a proud industrial past. Today, that unique blend shapes Deanston’s character and charm.Deanston stands out as one of Scotland’s few certified organic whisky producers, with every grain of barley grown organically and the River Teith powering the distillery’s own turbines. The old weaving sheds, now whisky warehouses, are built from thick stone that keeps the air cool and steady all year, creating the perfect conditions for slow, careful maturation.
