As the river runs past the Islands of Inchbuie, the old Clan Macnab burial site, as crashes over rocks, watch the mist rise. They're a run of cascades where the River Dochart rushes over rocky outcrops through the heart of Killin. The falls are at their most powerful in spate after heavy rain, framed by an old stone bridge with Highland scenery all around.
Killin is an old settlement at the western end of Loch Tay, long tied to Clan MacNab, whose burial island of Inchbuie sits in the River Dochart at the falls. Visitors have been coming since Victorian times.
They are, and you can see them at any time from the bridge in the centre of Killin. There's free parking in the village.
