Isle of Skye

Off the west coast of Scotland, the Isle of Skye is known for its rugged scenary, dramatic coastlines and rich Gaelic history. Highlights include the charming village of Portree, and natural wonders such as Quiraing, Old Man of Storr and Fairy Pools. History lovers can explore castles like Dunvegan and Armdale whilst wildlife fans can spot seals, goldern eagles and red deer. Visiting Skye is easy, either by the Skye Bridge from the mainland or by ferry from Mallaig. It is possible to come for the day, however staying longer gives you more time to explore everything the island has to offer at your own leisure. Accommodation ranges from cosy B&Bs to luxury hotels, but is it advisable to book in advance particularly during the summer.
